Ishi, Redefining Precision and Performance
Ishi approaches design with restraint and discipline, grounded in structure.
Raised in an engineering household, his early years were shaped by precision disciplines such as tool and die making and turbine mechanics, where tolerances, materials, and internal structure determined performance long before surface expression. This foundation instilled a belief that what matters most is rarely visible.
Alongside his technical training, Ishi pursued elite athletic performance and later worked across design, photography, and sound, exploring how form, movement, and energy intersect. His creative work took him across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, including over a decade in Paris, where he collaborated with leading luxury houses and performance brands, gaining a deep understanding of textiles, construction, and the relationship between the body and what it wears.
Working closely with Olympians and world class athletes further sharpened his perspective. He observed that true performance is not created by addition, but by removing friction between intention and movement.
In 2021, Ishi founded AsWeMove to apply this philosophy to apparel. Rather than designing garments from the outside in, he focused on internal architecture, developing proprietary technologies, machinery, and patented manufacturing processes that redefine how performance wear is built.
Today, AsWeMove reflects Ishi’s core belief: that the highest form of design removes limitation rather than imposing style, allowing the body to move as it was meant to.
